The Salt of Our TearsThe Salt of Our Tears~The Salt of Our Tears by blackstarfairyfiend
Ages back, back before the dawn of man, the world was nearly ninety percent water.
Living things did not exist above the surface of the ocean; every race lived under the sea, in near perfect harmony. Humanoids lived everywhere from the sunny shallows near the few islands of the planet, to the fathoms below, yet none lived in ‘the world above’ as it was called then. This existence continued for hundreds of years. Then however, everything changed in the wake of a horrendous disaster. One day, completely out of the blue, a powerful seaquake shook the entire planet. Homes were torn apart, formerly solid structures collapsed, and then, the ocean floor began to tremble. The literal foundation of their undersea society split into thirteen parts. Their plates shifted so violently that Eight of them rose far beyond sea level, in one area alone just short of touching the stars. The humanoids were forced out of their watery homes and into the open air. Over time
